Cairo: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Sunday’s trading session in green territory on the back of local buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index jumped 176 points, or 1.18%, finishing the session at 15,378.11 points.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 6.87 billion and closed the session at EGP 865.34 billion.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index rose 1.04% to 742.10 points, while the broader EGX100 index climbed 1.26% to 1,920.06 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index added 0.70% to 2,571.03 points.

Trading volume amounted to around 189 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 403.3 million through 15,400 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 18.8 million, acquiring 90.53% of the EGX’s total trading on Sunday, while foreign and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 16.4 million and EGP 2.4 million, respectively.
