SHANGHAI- China will adjust the weighting of a key yuan index basket in 2021, the country's foreign exchange trading platform said on late on Thursday.
Starting on Jan. 1, the China Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS) will reduce the U.S. dollar's weighting in the CFETS currency basket to 18.79% from 21.59% and increase the euro's weighting to 18.15% from 17.40%, according to an online statement.
The trading platform also said it would keep the weighting of a yuan index based on the BIS currency basket and another based on the SDR basket unchanged.
