Residents in Sharjah's Al Rahmaniyah suburb will now be provided with two trash containers - green and blue - to be placed in front of each house to segregate waste at source, before it is picked up by garbage trucks. These will be in addition to one bin meant only for tree waste.
The project is being launched by Al Rahmaniya suburb council in coordination with Bee'ah.
Hassan Al Belgouni, member of the council, said that the Sharjah government is making every effort to ensure comfort and amenities for residents and maintain a clean environment.
The project would make it easy for residents to get rid of their domestic waste by using their own garbage bins, which will prevent the beauty of the area from being sullied.
Fatima Al Suwaidi from Bee'ah said that the initiative will add aesthetic value to Sharjah. It uses advanced technology in segregating and recycling waste, he pointed out.
The project will be implemented in different phases. In the first phase, Bee'ah will provide each house with two containers for sorting out the waste, apart from one only for tree waste. Bee'ah garbage vehicles will collect the garbage according to different time plans: either on a daily or weekly basis. They will also wash the garbage bins once a week.
