Manama: Three mosques and four restaurants were closed yesterday for flouting precautionary measures to limit the spread of Covid-19.

The Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry said the mosques were closed as part of efforts of the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus to trace active cases and their contacts so as to ensure the safety and health of everyone.

The three mosques violated precautionary measures, as those in charge of them allowed the entry of non-vaccinated worshippers, including active cases who are supposed to be under quarantine.

The Ministry also announced the reopening of four mosques that had been temporarily closed for failing to comply with the precautionary measures.

The Ministry indicated that contact tracing efforts have shown that laxity in following precautionary measures has led to the spread of infections among some worshippers.

Meanwhile, four touristic restaurants in the Capital Governorate have been shut down for one week for violating precautionary measures to combat the novel coronavirus.

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority announced the closure.
