Bahrain's Jewish community held its first Bar Mitzvah ceremony in 16 years at the House of Ten Commandments in Manama.

The coming-of-age ritual for a young boy was organised by the Association of Gulf Jewish Communities.

A Torah scroll presented to His Majesty King Hamad last year by senior adviser to former US president Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, was used in the ceremony.

“It was incredibly special for us to use the Torah for the first time in the lead-up to Bahrain’s first anniversary of signing the Abraham Accords,” said association president Ebrahim Nonoo.

In September last year, Bahrain and the UAE signed the Abraham Accords with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the presence of Mr Trump.
