Deepak Rauniyar’s Highway will have its UAE premiere at Alserkal Avenue’s A4 Space on May 31.

Highway takes the viewer on a journey not just through mountainous terrain but through a country rife with the challenges of civil war and confusion in love. Rauniyar’s debut feature provoked a tumultuous response from Nepali audiences with its realistic characters and taboo-shrouded issues rendered in an improvised cinematic style that heightens an already wild ride.

The screening takes place at 7.15pm after Dubai-based filmmaker’s Lafi Abood’s 10-minute short film titled Nepal. Entry is by donation and all contributions will go to the recovery efforts in Nepal via the Dubai-based social initiative Flea4Charity in association with the UAE Red Crescent.

The screening is brought in association with Cinema Akil, an independent cinema platform that aims to showcase directors and filmmakers across the decades, geographies and genres, and create awareness and interest in film.
