The Indian Embassy started collecting details of its nationals yesterday ahead of a possible evacuation plan amidst the outbreak of Covid-19.

Those interested should fill up the online Google form https://forms.gle/FCWAxcy2JsUtzY3L6, individually, providing basic personal details.

The mission clarified that the online form for “repatriation” did not mean a resumption of flights to India.

“The purpose of this form is only for the collection of information,” it said.

“No decision has been taken with regards to the resumption of flights to India. As and when a decision is taken, the embassy will make an announcement.”

Indian is currently in its second phase of a complete nationwide lockdown to combat the pandemic. The registrants are required to choose the reason for returning to India besides specifying their category.

They also have to sign an undertaking citing that they are willing to go in for a 14-day quarantine period, at their own expense, upon arrival in India.

The GDN yesterday reported that the Indian government has begun preparations for the return of Indians stranded or needing to return from various countries, beginning with countries in the Gulf region.
