The Egyptian minister of manpower and immigration on Tuesday announced a three-day holiday for the private sector in celebration of Eid Al Adha.

The Eid holiday will start on Monday, 20 August and end Wednesday, 22 August, Mohamed Saafan said in a statement.

This comes in accordance with the provisions of article 52 of the labour law issued by law No. 12 of 2003 and amended by the ministerial decree No. 49 of 2009 on setting Eid holidays, which are fully paid vacation, he added.

The minister pointed out that the employer can make employees work during the Eid holidays if it is necessary, and in this case, the employees are entitled extra pay for working on these days.
