MANAMA: Four more people died from Covid-19 yesterday, with another 786 new cases registered.
This takes the death toll in Bahrain to 46, while the country announced its highest daily tally of new cases yesterday.
The Health Ministry announced the deaths of two women, a 75-year-old Bahraini and a 65-year-old expatriate, together with two expat men, aged 35 and 39.
It expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
The ministry also announced 786 new cases yesterday, of which 401 were expatriate workers, 362 were contacts of active cases, and 23 were travel-related.
The ministry’s latest update on its website, dedicated to Covid-19, showed 5,700 active cases. Of these, 135 were in need of treatment and 20 remain in a critical condition.
The ministry also recorded 449 additional recoveries yesterday, taking the total number of patients now clear of the virus to 13,267.
This means Bahrain has recorded a total of 19,013 cases of the coronavirus, including the active cases, recoveries and fatalities. So far 432,409 tests for Covid-19 have been carried out in Bahrain.
