Muscat: No truth about what is circulated in social media of closing a bakery in Muttrah Al Kubra due to an expat worker has infected with coronavirus, an official from Muscat Municipality said.
An official from Muscat Municipality spoke exclusively to Times of Oman said, “The Municipality in Muttrah Al Kubra represented by the Inspection and Food Control department carries out an extensive inspection campaign on shops and activities related to public health, including bakeries and restaurants in the welayat, to ensure the safety and quality of the supply, and the extent to which these shops and activities are applied to health requirements for food.”
“Specialists of Inspection and Food Control Department of Muscat Municipality have closed one of the bakeries due to non-compliance with the health requirements in exercising the activity and providing the service,” she added.
An official also confirmed, “There is no truth what is circulated in social media about closing the bakery due to an expat worker has infected with the coronavirus. “
“The campaign also resulted in directing some health notes to other activities, because of the necessity of correcting the conditions related to inspection notes, in order to ensure the health and safety of the consumer and the quality of what is provided through these commercial activities,” she added.
An official concluded, “Accordingly, the Municipality would like to be alerted about the importance of commitment to ensure public health, and to continue providing activities for its services, and to avoid violations, as the Muscat Municipality indicates that it will take the necessary legal measures in accordance with laws, decisions and regulations regulating violators.”
