TUNIS: The 52nd World Congress of the International Association of Students in Economics and Commercial Sciences (AIESEC) will be held next February 17-26 in Hammamet.

The event, which will bring together over 300 young leaders from more than 100 countries, will gather companies, leaders and different bodies concerned.

The event aims to develop AIESEC in order to help it remain competitive and impact positively on societies of the world, Chairman of the AIESEC Tunisia Mohamed Ali Chebaane underlined, at a news conference held on Friday in Tunis.

He added that participants in the Congress will look at such a variety of themes like diversity, leadership and sustainable development, as part of training sessions, lectures, workshops and panels of discussion.

After reviewing the economic and cultural impact of holding this congress in Tunisia, Mr. Chebaane emphasised that, this year, Tunisia will bid for the AIESEC international board.

He said the Congress of AIESEC alumni will be held next February 19-21, 2010, concurrently with the world congress of AIESEC, with the participation of alumni from over 107 countries.

Mr. Chebaane said the congress of AIESEC alumni will be held on the theme "Lead the Change" and will focus on the gap separating emerging and developed countries and ways to strengthen co-operation between these countries.

AIESEC has constantly provided help to underprivileged countries and strives to build up potential of their youth, he pointed out. For his part, Mr. Lee Jennings, Director of America- Mideast Educational and Training Services (AMIDEAST), highlighted the importance of organising this international congress of AIESEC in Tunisia, the first Arab and African country to host this event, pointing out that this event will be held in Tunisia, thanks to Tunisian team's efforts.

AIESEC is the largest student organisation in the world, with its network of over 38,000 members in 1100 university campuses from 107 countries. It is a platform helping youth develop their leadership to impact positively on their communities.

AIESEC Tunisia was established in 1962 and has now over 350 students from Tunisian universities.

AIESEC is present in major cities of the country, namely Tunis, Sfax, Nabeul and Sousse.
