LONDON Saudi Arabia’s Chief of General Staff Gen. Fayyad Al-Ruwaili met on Wednesday with the British Chief of Defense Staff General, Nick Carter during the inaugural meeting of the bilateral military cooperation committee.

During the meeting, the strategic relations between the two friendly countries were reviewed, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

They also discussed bilateral military cooperation and common challenges facing Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.

Earlier this week, military chiefs of the two countries met during an annual meeting of the Dragon Group.

The Dragon Group, named after its first meeting aboard HMS Dragon in 2018, comprises Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, and the United Kingdom.

The meeting discussed means of achieving joint military coordination and defense cooperation between the participating countries to tackle different challenges and threats through adapting a common approach, contributing to counter-terrorism, anti-piracy and counter-smuggling operations in order to preserve the security and stability of the region.
