AMMAN The government on Thursday exempted goods exported from Syria to Gulf countries through Jordan by Jordanian trucks from transit fees, in a move aimed at supporting Jordans heavy transport sector operating on international transport lines.

Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission Salah Lawzi told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that this step aims to increase the volume of exports from Syria to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

He added that the exemption will increase the number of Jordanian trucks transporting goods through Jaber Border Crossing until a full agreement is reached with relevant Syrian authorities regarding transit fees.
