KUWAIT CITY: The remittances sent by Filipinos in Kuwait increased by ten percent during the first half of this year to reach a total of $385.62 million in 2019, compared to $350.75 million during the same time in 2018, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

According to the website “Mubasher”, the remittances of Filipinos working in Kuwait represent 13 percent of the total remittances of $2.95 billion sent by the Filipinos working in the GCC countries.

There has been a drop in the size of remittances sent by expatriates in five Gulf countries in the first quarter of 2019 the current year by 9.97 percent, reaching $24.71 billion when compared to remittances of $27.44 billion sent during the similar period last year.

According to the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), labor force from the Philippines are the fourth highest in number in Kuwait with 213,970 employees, of which 41,870 are men and 172,120 are women, as per data collected on Dec 31, 2018.

The top three in the list of highest number of expatriates are India, Egypt and Bangladesh
