Muscat: More than 96,000 expats have left Oman in a month, according to the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

NCSI said in a statement, "The latest statistics of the percentages of the population show that the percentage of Omanis reached 60.60 per cent which means they are 2,728,724 Omanis in comparison to the percentage of expatriates at 39.40 per cent (1,775,577) on August 15, 2020.

Where the percentage of expatriates at 40.8 per cent (1,872,170) on June 21, 2020, which means that 96,593 expats left Oman.

In August 2017, the number of Omanis stood at 2,515,814 (54.7 per cent), while the number of expats was 2,084,680 (45.3 per cent)
