Egypt has exported about 2.2 million tons of agricultural products since the beginning of 2020, Head of the Central Administration of Plant Quarantine Ahmed El Attar said.

Egypt has not suspended exporting despite coronavirus pandemic.

El Attar noted that Egypt exports more than 5 million tons of agricultural products worldwide each year.

Leading countries like the US, Russia, New Zealand, Australia, and the European Union and others import these products from Egypt.

El Attar clarified that all shipments exported by Egypt are carried out through a certificate from the quarantine. The Country of Manufacturing has to be written on the certificates as well as the country importing from Egypt.

It is noteworthy that Kuwait has facilitated procedures to enter Egyptian exports, as reported on April 20th. El Attar noted that the Gulf country used to hold Egyptian shipments and test them before their final release.

He pinpointed that this procedure negatively impacted Egypt's exports to Kuwait in 2018 and 2019.
