Head of Russia's Council of Muftis Nafiqollah Ashirov said that the Muslim World needs today pursing the thoughts of late Imam Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic, more than any time before.
He made the remarks in an exclusive interview with IRNA's correspondent in Moscow on Thursday.
'The most important advice of late Imam Khomeini was unification of Muslims as it has been instructed in the Holy Qur'an. The great founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran always emphasized the unity of Shia and Sunni Muslims,' the Russian Chief Mufti added.
Referring to the fact that the recent wave of Islamic awakening in several Arab countries has been inspired by the thoughts of late Imam Khomeini, Ashirov pointed out that the wave of freedom-seeking has engulfed many Middle East countries which infuriated the enemies of Islam.
'Late Imam Khomeini invited Shia and Sunni to forget their differences and try to unite,' he added.
