DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Emirates Aluminium Co., or Emal, said Wednesday it agreed to supply aluminum sow ingots to South Korea's Daewoo International Corp.

The firm, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Development Co. and Dubai Aluminum Co., didn't give a value for the contract, according to an emailed statement.

Last week, Emal delivered its first production to a local client after its smelter became operational in December, it said. Emal's $5.7 billion smelter has a first-stage production capacity of 700,000 tons annually.

It could become the biggest aluminum smelter in the world if phase two, designed to bring capacity up to 1.4 million tons a year, comes online. If cleared, it will become operational by 2014.
