Water firm Masafi is striving to take some of the eco-guilt out of shopping by using biodegradable shrink-wrap for its bottles.
Researchers have developed the Oxo plastic, which has been designed to disintegrate within a matter of months instead of hanging around for generations - clogging up landfills, chocking wildlife and floating in our seas.
Masafi's Natascha Edelmann said: "More than 60 per cent of litter on beaches is plastic and more than 46,000 pieces of plastic debris float on every square kilometre of the Earth's oceans."
The packing is part of the firm's drive to cut its carbon footprint.
