DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Etihad Rail, the state-run company in charge of developing a 40 billion-U.A.E. dirham ($11 billion) country-wide rail network, has awarded a key contract to PCM Strescon Overseas Ventures, Dubai-based English language daily Gulf News reports Sunday.

Under the contract, PCM Strescon will oversee and manage the design, manufacturing and storage of the railway sleepers for phase one of the Etihad Rail network covering the 266-kilometer line connecting Shah, Habshan and Ruwais in Abu Dhabi emirate, the paper reports.

Trains on the route will transport granulated sulphur from the Shah sour gas field development for export from Ruwais.
