ANKARA, Dec 2 (Reuters) - Turkey is negotiating with Qatar about purchasing liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the spot market in a bid to help cover any shortfall in Russian gas supplies, Turkish government sources told Reuters on Wednesday.

Turkey relies heavily on Russian energy imports but relations between the two countries have chilled sharply after Turkey shot down a Russian warplane last week.
