Traders Hotel Dubai, the four-star brand of the Shangri-La Hotel, is set to open in April - the result of a management agreement between Shangri-La International Hotels and Resorts and Oman-based Zubair Corp.

The opening of Traders Hotel Dubai follows quickly on the heels of the opening of the Shangri-La Hotel here last July and is the first Traders Hotel in the Middle East.

Operating under the same philosophy and management structure as the Shangri-La hotels, the Traders brand caters to a specific mid-market niche which complements Shangri-La's deluxe properties in key city centres such as Dubai.

"Our main market is business travellers and, of course, the meetings segment.

"However, during key Dubai events such as Dubai Summer Surprises, we also expect to attract a share of the leisure market," said Wolf Flecker, general manager.

Located in the bustling business and commercial district of Deira, the Traders Hotel Dubai, designed by Badri and Bensouda, consists of 250 rooms and suites, food and beverage outlets, extensive meeting facilities and much more.

Featuring The Junction (a trendy 24-hour restaurant), Chameleon (a bar which provides entertainment every night) and the Lobby Lounge, the hotel's lobby provides the ideal place to meet, trade or just socialise.

The finishing touches to the hotel are now in prog-ress. Guests can expect to see an interior which reflects contemporary minimalist style utilising exquisite furnishings, fixtures and design elements.

All of the guest rooms feature broadband Internet access, IDD telephone with voice mail, electronic in-room locker, private mini-bar, iron/ironing board, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities.

Recreational facilities include gymnasium, sauna/steam rooms, jacuzzi, indoor swimming pool, juice bar and massage rooms.

Other services which will be available include complimentary entrance and shuttle transfer to a beach park, same day laundry /valet services, complimentary airport pick-up and cross-signing facilities at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai providing an extended selection of dining options.

"We have just entered the final phase of the pre-opening plan. Traders Hotel Dubai will offer a vibrant and affordable hotel solution for savvy business travellers.

"Our aim is to be positioned and recognised as a hotel which provides everything a business traveller could desire with sincere service from the heart. We are confident this approach will be well received in the local market," added Flecker.
