Al Dakhiliyah Governorate has a huge tourism potential thanks to a number of tourism attractions, varied nature with splendid mountains and lovely plains and wadis. Al Jabal Al Akhdhar is the most impressive tourism spot and a favoured in summertime. Tourism in the interior is thriving due to existence numerous heritage spots. The Ministry of Tourism has been keen on boosting the tourism activities, Ahmed bin Nasser al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism, has paid a visit to the governorate to inspect the tourism projects under implementation there including those at the Niyabat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar where he inspected the implementation of Tourism Information Centre which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The minister also viewed the sites of proposed tourism projects as well as the project being executed by the Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) which includes an 86-room hotel, resultant, swimming pool and other facilities. Among the projects under implementation is renovation of Nizwa Fort which will see construction of a dedicated museum to showcase the cultural aspects of the governorate. The Jabreen Fort in Wilayat Bahla has also witnessed renovation and addition of new facilities.
