Cairo –  Telecom Egypt has increased the internet bundle download quotas by 20% for free for all its customers in line with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s directive to support students learning online.

The state-run operator is the first one to implement this directive after the Egyptian government closed down schools and universities in a bid to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), according to a statement on Tuesday.

Customers will receive an SMS notifying them with the addition of 20% of their internet bundle for free for a period of 30 days, the company’s managing director and CEO Adel Hamed said.

In addition, Telecom Egypt will enable students to browse the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and e-learning websites for free, he added.
