Tehran - Tehran's Azadi square was showered with flowers Saturday morning as part of nationwide celebrations to mark the 33rd victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

Iranian army helicopters showered the huge crowd of people gathering in the square at the end of the rallies staged on the occasion.

Demonstrators taking part in the immense procession spreading between two major squares of Tehran carried a 2000-meter flag of Iran, chanting slogans against the US and the Zionist regime.

Some 22,000 school students formed a chorus band in Azadi (meaning liberty) square and performed an epic song commemorating the happy occasion.

Families of the martyred nuclear scientists also joined the demonstrators.

Talking to IRNA, wife of martyred nuclear scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan said the prime message of the demonstrators today is that the threats and sanctions would in no way affect the will of the Iranian nation.

Fatemeh Bolouri said the Iranian nuclear scientists lost their lives for the ideals of the Islamic Revolution and the independence of the country.
