JEDDAH - ASM Process Automation Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with PI Middle East Company, recently held a technical symposium on the application of PROFIBUS automated control systems in factories and buildings.

The symposium, held at Moevenpick Jeddah, recognized the benefits of using the system and of building trusted networks, as well as improving the reliability of the technology, the cutting of production costs and ensuring production for local industries.

A number of managers of national companies, electrical engineers, designers of operation and maintenance systems participated in the symposium which was held under the sponsorship of Siemens, ABB, Phoenix Contact and Biberl & Fox.

Paula Doyle, Chairman of PI Middle-East, said "PROFIBUS is the world's leading system in factory automation solutions and the automation of production processes, in addition to safety, reducing the financial cost of design and installation, as well as cost of connectivity via wires; compared to previous systems."

She said the event was the first technical symposium organized by the company, and will be followed by seminars and training courses to prepare ambitious Saudi youth to deal with the new era. These will include developing the localization of technology, broadening users base of the PROFIBUS system, as well as PROFIBUS engineer certification.
