The Startup Act will help businesses and youth resolve the issue of funding, said Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy Anouar Maarouf.

The piece of legislation, geared towards promoting startups, provides for the creation in 2019 of a fund of funds of 500 MTD.

Maarouf told attendees Saturday at an information day on Startup Act this fund will meet financing needs of startups as it will provide support from the stage of the project idea to that of the launch of the business and its internationalisation. Furthermore, it will serve as a single talking partner so as to ease administrative procedures.

The aim is to make of Tunisia an African hub by 2020 in view of its advantages, particularly geographic location.

Maarouf also urged the need to stop brain drain, develop support systems and foster entrepreneurship.

The information day saw the participation of 150 project promoters.
