Increased capacity at Sonatrach's Skikda refinery in northeastern Algeria will come on stream in August 2012, after a total spend of USD 3.5 billion, a senior official told Zawya.
"Samsung Engineering has almost finished the expansion, adding capacity to produce four million tons per year of downstream products," the official said on condition of anonymity.
The project will produce gas, butane and condensate; it will reduce Algeria's fuel imports by at least 20%.
