Sohar Aluminium received its first vessel from Australia on May. The Jewel of Shinas arrived from Gove, Australia, on its maiden voyage to Sohar. The Jewel of Shinas is one of the two ships commissioned for Sohar Aluminium and is operated by Oman Shipping Company. 

The carrier which is berthed at Sohar Aluminium's port facility is a five-hatch Supramax bulk carrier dedicated to ship alumina and petroleum coke for Sohar Aluminium for a period of 15 years. 

Present on this occasion were Henk Pauw, chief executive officer, Sohar Aluminium, and Nicolas Visscher, chief executive officer, Oman Shipping Co. The officials welcomed the vessel and were given a tour of the ship.
