More than 70 Saudi businessmen will explore with their Spanish counterparts investment opportunities at the first Saudi-Spanish Business Council (SSBC) meeting, which is scheduled to open in Madrid on Thursday, local media said.
The meeting will cover topics related to real estate, contracting, industry, petrochemicals, energy, electricity and transport.
On the sidelines of the SSBC meeting, the Saudi and Spanish businessmen will be briefed on investment opportunities in both countries through presentations to be offered in this regard.
Earlier, Spanish Ambassador to Riyadh Joaquin Perez-Villanueva and Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) head Abdullah Al-Mabti reviewed arrangements for the convening of the upcoming SSBC meeting. They also discussed trade and business ties between the two countries and how to benefit from the business privileges available in the economies of both countries.
In this context, Al-Mabti noted the growing trend in bilateral relations were boosted by economic, investment and technical cooperation deals and the adopted plans to remove double taxation and protection of joint investments.
These measures have considerably contributed to make Saudi Arabia the third biggest trade partner for Spain with trade exchange amounting to SR34 billion, Al-Mabti added.
The Spanish envoy reaffirmed that his country is weighing the Kingdom as an important trade partner in the Middle East, stressing that the Spanish Embassy is giving full-fledged support to the economic relations between the two countries.
