Salalah Methanol Company has achieved 2mn metric tonnes of methanol production within two years (May 2010 to March 28, 2012) of plant commissioning.
According to a company press release, this has come as part of efforts exerted by the company to embody the vision of Oman Oil Company, the sole owner of the company and the government investment arm in the hydrocarbon industry.
On this occasion, Awadh bin Hassan al Shanfari, CEO of Salalah Methanol, said, "The company has successfully
completed more than 1mn man hours with no lost time injuries in the field of health, safety and environment (HSE).
"This reflects the non-negotiable commitment of employees and its stakeholders towards HSE. In addition to the above achievement, Salalah Methanol has achieved more than 50 per cent Omanisation in a relatively short period of time since going operational in May 2010," Shanfari added.
He confirmed that the company will continue to raise the Omanisation percentage at all levels.
Salalah Methanol company manages and operates a plant that produces methanol with an investment of US$900mn.
