Mr Ratan Tata, noted Indian industrialist, was recently honoured with the 2014 ‘AIB-MENA Windtower Award for Inspirational Leadership’ at a ceremony held in Mumbai. The honour was conferred in recognition of his business leadership - as Chairman of the Tata Group - and his inspirational actions in the face of adversity. The Award was presented by Dr Melodena S. Balakrishnan, President of AIB-MENA and Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD). Tata was the Chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, from 1991 until his retirement in December 2012.
