DOHA: In collaboration with Qatar University, RasGas held a Life is Engineering (LIEP) workshop on Thursday to facilitate transfer of skills between RasGas engineering experts and university students.
For the second consecutive year RasGas's Life is Engineering Programme was organised by Qatar University in collaboration with prominent local business players, to support young Qatari excellence in education and promote skills transfer activities through a dedicated mentoring approach.
RasGas organised the workshop to educate a group of more than 60 Qatar University students and professors on the crucial role of engineers in the energy sector and on engineering opportunities at RasGas. The team of volunteers from RasGas' Subsurface group also gave the students a three-dimensional overview of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production in its state of the art visualisation room.
The support offered to LIEP is an important part of RasGas' on-going Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, with its four cornerstone approach focusing on community, education, environment and health in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
RasGas Subsurface Manager Ron Gilliland commented, "the 'Life is Engineering Programme' is a fantastic opportunity for our employees to share their skills with engineering students. RasGas is fully committed to providing educational opportunities and fostering talented students", adding "this programme is a great example of successful collaboration between the academic and professional worlds."
Dr Mazen Hasna, Dean of Engineering at Qatar University thanked RasGas for their generous support of the College of Engineering's initiatives, stating, "RasGas' continuous support shows their high sense of responsibility towards society, and their dedication to the development of the country's education and research endeavours."
