Qatar -  Qatar Petroleum has signed a long-term sale and purchase agreement with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) to annually supply Kuwait with up to 3 million tonnes of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

Upon the 15-year agreement, Qatar Petroleum will send its deliveries to the LNG receiving terminal at Al Zour Port in Kuwait starting 2022, to meet Kuwait’s growing needs of energy, particularly in the power generation sector, according to a press release on Sunday.

The agreement was inked by Khaled A. Al Fadhel, the oil minister of Kuwait and the minister of electricity and water who is chairing KPC board, and Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatar’s energy affairs minister and the president and CEO of Qatar Petroleum.

Al Kaabi said: “This agreement extends Qatar’s long-standing LNG supply relationship with Kuwait well into the 2030’s and highlights our commitment to meeting Kuwait’s LNG requirements.”
