DOHA - As part of its ongoing strategy, Qatar Metals Coating Company (Q-Coat) is forging ahead with awareness programme by direct marketing to consultants and through advertising campaigns in different media.
The company organised a technical seminar at Doha's Marriott hotel. The objective of the seminar was to bring key players from the specifying and user community, consultants, contractors, traders and senior officials from ministries and government departments, together.
Experts from Qatar General Organisation for Standards and Metrology, Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI), USA, and Jotun Powder Coatings, Dubai, answered questions related to the product and its application.
"As Qatar's economy continues to boom, we see our responsibility of contributing to the growth of its construction industry by continuing to provide solutions to the problem of corrosion. This call for a sustained effort from our side is to improve awareness of the benefits of using epoxy coated re-bars. We are confident that through this seminar we will go a long way in establishing our strong link with the specifying and user community," said Ali Al Muraikhi, Q-Coat Director and General Manager.
The company is upbeat about its endeavour to create more awareness and demand for fusion bonded epoxy coated re-bars in Qatar as it embarks on an ambitious and comprehensive marketing drive.
Q-Coat was founded in 1990 as a joint venture between Qatar Steel Company and Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (QIMC) with a vision to provide a solution for corrosion, one of the dreaded problems in concrete reinforcement in this region.
Over the years, Q-Coat registered continual growth through sales in the GCC, predominantly in Qatar. Through high quality fusion bonded epoxy coating on the black bars procured from Qatar Steel, the company has established its credentials in Qatar. Initially from a capacity of 60,000TPY, the company has expanded its facilities with an additional investment of QR 20 million to increase capacity to 100,000 TPY, making it the largest epoxy coating plant in the region.
