Doha - Data and information protection in the context of growing dependency on Information Technology in modern economy will be discussed at a conference which opens here today at Marriott Hotel.
Mohammed bin Tawar Al Kuwari, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry board member, will open the conference on Emergency and Contingency Planning which is being organised by the QCCI in conjunction with Multimedia.
Organisers said the conference is intended to emphasise the importance of data and information protection in view of the growing dependency on IT in modern economy. They noted that it has become compulsory for companies to commit more of their resources in the safekeeping of data as a precautionary measure for emergencies.
The conference has attracted speakers from NavLink and the London Global Associates. Topics to be discussed include 'The role of IT in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery' which will be addressed by Tamer Abdellatif, the Managing Director of Capstone Australasia, a leading Sydney-based management consultancy and servicing the Qatar market.
Rashed Al Kubaisy, Manager of Finance and Administrative Affairs at Barwa Real Estate, will present a study on constructing a data warehouse that includes the fundamental steps and the principals of evaluating companies that work in this field, while Ali Rashed Al Mohannadi, the IT Manager at Qatar National Bank (QNB), will present a paper on contingency planning.
