Doha - 'Festival Italiano', a promotion to introduce various Italian products in Qatar's market, opened yesterday at Lulu hypermarket. The announcement was made in a press conference organised at Lulu's premises.
The weeklong event was inaugurated by Giuseppe Buccino, Italian ambassador and Dr Ferdinando Fiore, Italian Trade Commissioner at Italian Trade Commission, Dubai.
The festival, which ends on June 9, will witness a large number of Italian commodities, providing regional foods, fashion wear, jewellery and home appliances.
The event is being hosted in association with the Italian embassy and the Dubai-based Italian Trade Commission, a government body to look after Italian business interests, commercial and economic activities across the Middle East.
Various activities and promotions being presented here included Italian recipe contests, cooking lessons and demonstrations by renowned Italian chefs, insights into various cooking styles and ingredients of cuisine in food categories.
Other attractions included special counters and kiosks, promoting many attractive offers on different electronics and home appliances, new products launches and demonstrations, designer sun glasses from leading Italian brands, Italian jewellery collection by Damas, latest and trendy range of fashion wear and footwear, and many games and competitions.
After the tremendous response we received from last year's 'Italian Festival', we have planned for a bigger and better shopping experience for the shoppers this year. We have always strived to position ourselves as a one stop shop for all ethnic communities living in Qatar and this philosophy is being further extended by way of these different festivals, said Mohammed Althaf, operation manager, Lulu hypermarket.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ferdinando Fiore said we have decided to organise the function every year in Qatar, almost during same period.
Replying to a question about the special competitive strategies to be followed, seeing a huge influx of Asian commodities in Qatar's market, Dr Ferdinando Fiore said "our quality products will achieve attentions of our valuable customers here and positively, we will set a record in the booming economy of Qatar".
Famous brands such as Whirlpool, Ariston, Indesit, Ausonia, Bompani, Ignis, Electrolux, Ardo, Italina will be available in the festival.
