Doha - Eighteen companies, local and international, have submitted their quotations to Public Works Authority (Ashghal) for execution of Al Wakra Hospital project.

The Building Affairs of Ashghal is in the process of study and assessment of the offers. The technical and financial reports on the offers are expected to come soon.

Ashghal has advertised General Tender invitation for this project from local and international companies on May 31, 2006. The closing date for the tender was extended from Agusut15, 2006 to October 3, 2006, due to request from some companies.

Al Wakra Hospital is among the major projects of Ashghal in health sector. The project is located at south of Al Wakra town. The hospital will be constructed in a total area of 70,000sqm. The main building will have facilities for 250 beds, outpatient clinics, emergency unit, operation rooms, Intensive Care Unit and maternity section.

This is in addition to administrative section, laboratories, pharmacies, X-ray and scanning units, lecture halls, nurse quarters and general service section. The project work will start in the first quarter of next year and a period of 30 months is expected to complete the project. Ashghal has signed a contract of QR 5m with a major company for consultancy services of the project.
