DAMASCUS - President Sheikh Khaifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates arrived in Damascus Sunday on an official 2-day visit to Syria.

President Bashar al-Assad received his UAE counterpart at Damascus International Airport. Ministers of Finance, Foreign affairs, Culture and State Presidential Affairs, Syria's Ambassador in Abu Dhabi and UAE ambassador in Damascus also received Syria's big guest upon arrival.

Following a short rest, President al-Assad accompanied Sheikh Khaifa Al-Nahyan to his residence in Damascus.

Sheikh Khalifa Al-Nahyan is accompanied by an official delegation comprising State Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince Department's Chairman Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

"We're happy to visit Syria upon an invitation of my brother President al-Assad to continue work on boosting and developing bilateral relations in all fields in the interest of both countries and peoples," Sheikh Kalifa Bin Zayed said in a statement upon arrival.

"We're satisfied with what has been achieved during the last years in the process of joint cooperation in the economic, trade and investment fields and with the outcomes of the meetings of the joint ministerial Committee to open broadened horizons in order to promote this cooperation in the interest of both countries," UAE President added.

He noted that this visit will be an important opportunity to make consultations with President al-Assad on the latest developments in the Arab region in addition to discussions on regional and international issues.
