Muscat: The Information Technology Authority (ITA) celebrated the graduation of the first group of the eContent and Application Development training project, under the patronage of Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, the CEO of ITA, recently.
The project included 40 designers, who have been training for three months in the field of eContent and Application Development.
During the training, they designed nine projects that were displayed in the exhibition accompanying the ceremony, where the project "Oman Virtual Zoo" was announced as the best project.
As one of the key e.oman strategy projects, the eContent and Application Development project aims to encourage the development of an eContent industry in the Sultanate and enrich local electronic content through providing a suitable environment and infrastructure to meet the various requirements to support the development of eContent in its various uses.
Main centre
The ITA is currently working on establishing a main centre for the project, with an aim to develop the electronic content industry in the Sultanate, promote Omani exports in this area, and enrich the local and Arabic content on the Internet, in order to encourage citizens and residents to take advantage of the Internet. Additionally, the center aims to train and qualify professionals who are interested in the management and design of eContent in accordance with international standards, and focus on achieving integration with other applications to create solutions and innovative services.
With the focus on implementing national projects that offer a range of services to serve the citizens and residents in Oman, the center will work on the development and management of applications and mobile applications, and the virtual reality simulation projects' industry.
It is hoped that this project will have a positive impact in the implementation of the Digital Oman Strategy, including increasing the domestic use of the Internet, contributing to the increased use of computers, and enriching the Arabic eContent.
