MUSCAT -- ISACA has announced the toppers of the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) examinations held in Muscat in December 2005. There were 15 successful candidates for the CISA certification and 5 for the CISM certification. The CISA and CISM certifications are gaining in recognition worldwide with some countries stipulating these certifications as a mandatory requirement for internal audit and IT audit positions.
ISACA Muscat Chapter sponsored by the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) will hold a felicitation ceremony on April 25, 2006 at the college premises at 7pm to honour the successful candidates.
Ahmed Sulaiman Saleh al Maimani, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry for Administrative and Financial Affairs and Regions Affairs, will distribute the awards.
There will also be an educational presentation on 'The Profession of Management for Information Technology Professionals, by Vivek Albuquerque, CEO, Louis Allen International India.
The toppers for the CISA certifications are: 1st Rank Shalabh Agrawal (Chief Internal Auditor, Alliance Housing Bank); Joint 2nd Rank Rajeev Nair of State Bank of India and Subash Gopi of Suhail Bahwan Automobiles; 3rd Rank Hemantkumar Dutia of TAISM. The rank holders for the CISM certifications are: Pavel Turek (1st rank); Manikandan Natarajan (2nd rank), Abraham Kuruvilla (3rd rank).
Shalabh Agrawal, who topped the CISA examination, commented that well managed IT structures and practices are becoming increasingly important for the success of any enterprise. Apart from enabling IT audit related skills, the CISA course helps in spreading overall IT awareness, he said. Pavel Turek, who topped the CISM examination, stressed that security awareness must be a top priority in Oman and that enterprises should take steps to secure their IT infrastructure as the country is moving towards a e-governed environment. CISM certification enables an IT professional to deploy proven skill sets to manage various aspects of IT security, he said.

Currently, the Chapter has 248 members. The Chapter regularly conducts quality educational activities for the benefit of its members. It also conducts review classes for students appearing for the June and December CISA and CISM examinations.
