MUSCAT -- National Gas Co., the pioneers in LPG bottling in the Sultanate of Oman, has announced that they would soon be expanding their marketing network to go regional.
The company has a progressive outlook, under the able stewardship of its dynamic chairman Sheikh Khalid Ahmed Sultan Al Hosni and highly experienced and competent board of directors.
In his speech delivered at the LPG Trade Summit on November 14 in Dubai (UAE), Sheikh Khalid said, "Oman is definitely becoming a net exporter of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) and therefore opportunities for future LPG users are being dramatically increased domestically, regionally and globally."
He also added: "We are living in a period when LPG is moving out of domestic consumption bounds and into industrial and environment-friendly uses."
The LPG Trade Summit was a 2-day event which saw participation and presentations from a leading panel of LPG producers, importers and experts from Japan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, India, China, Taiwan, South Africa and Australia.
The summit covered presentations and discussions on production, consumption and demand for LPG, opportunities and challenges, pricing mechanism, alternatives to LPG and other topics in the regional and world outlook. Sheikh Khalid presented Oman's position regionally and globally.
National Gas Co. (SAOG), a fully Omani owned joint stock company, with a share capital of RO2 million, commenced commercial operations in 1981 and has since spread its wings over the entire country with strategically located plants.
The parent plant at Rusayl is spread over a 24,000 square metre area and has been serving the capital area efficiently since 1981. With strategically located plants spread all over the Sultanate, an efficient tanker fleet and well trained personnel, National Gas takes pride in being the largest LPG supplier serving the domestic, commercial and industrial needs of the nation efficiently, reliably and safely.
National Gas also operates a large fleet of tankers to lift bulk LPG from refineries around Oman to supply its plants. The LPG is then bottled in safe and controlled conditions into valid, tested cylinders.
Apart from this, LP gas is also distributed in bulk to high-volume consumers servicing commercial and industrial segments. National Gas can design, install and operate bulk gas systems for its customers and develop new applications which are efficient, enviro-sensitive and cost-effective for a spectrum of clients such as the large property developers, residential complexes, hotels and medium scale manufacturing industries.
National Gas has also made a foray into the aerosol propellant business and supplies deodorised LPG to industries manufacturing perfumes, deodorants and pesticides as an eco-friendly alternative to ozone-depleting CFCs.
The company's systems are built around ensuring optimum public service. Stringent quality standards are adhered to, to ensure that the right quantity and quality product is delivered to customers and that the best safety practices are followed to protect consumers, their families and their property.
On its 25th anniversary, National Gas Co. has embarked on a stream of new initiatives which are designed to propel the company into a new era of growth and development.
The management envisages that innovations in the LPG market will enable the company to pioneer new products and new applications as well as raise the profile of the company to become a regional leader in the energy marketing sector.
