DAIKIN, Japan's first in residential and commercial air-conditioners and world's second largest manufacturer of air-conditioners, has launched the most advanced central air-conditioning system VRV II in Oman. The launch, organised in association with Daikin's local distributor Muscat Electronics LLC, was attended by Philip Vande Stene, engineering expert from Daikin Europe; Y. Matsuda VRV engineering expert from Daikin Japan; D.R. Bijalani, general manager; Varghese Samuel Sr manager of AC Division and senior engineers of Muscat Electronics.

In his introductory speech Varghese explained that 1500 tons of VRV central systems have already been commissioned in Oman and another 1500 tons are under installation/commissioning. More than 3000 tons of VRV central systems are under design stage. Varghese emphasised that after-sales support provided by Muscat Electronics for all type of air-conditioners from split units to VRV system is unparalleled in Oman. All service calls are attended within two hours of a call, 24 hours a day.

He also mentioned that five million tons of VRV units are working in the world absolutely trouble free including in AGCC countries and that the VRV is the ultimate in air-conditioning technology. He also explained that Daikin is the first company to invent VRV systems in Japan and are the inventors of most compressors, AC systems and refrigerants. Philip Vande Stene made an excellent explanation of the VRV II features using R410A gas again an invention of Daikin. R410A is accepted worldwide as the most environmentally friendly refrigerant gas. He presented the main advantages of the Daikin VRV II system as follows:

1 Quietest indoors and out door units ever invented in the world,
2 44 per cent energy saving compared to any other type of AC system,
3 Low cost and easy installation thanks to the microcomputer controlled systems,
4 No trouble -- computerised operation. Computer takes over the system control in case
of any trouble including voltage fluctuations or mishandling by user,
5 No maintenance other than cleaning the filters,
6 Automatic "standby", in case of a remote case of failure,
7 100 per cent Japanese origin -- using all Japanese parts made in Daikin's own factory
in Osaka and assembled in Japan,
8 The unit being available in modular system can be carried in a lift,
9l With a 44 per cent power saving the system is also ideal for medium sized villas,
10 The additional investment can be recovered in three years time by saving on electricity
bills.

The seminar was well attended by consultants and senior dignitaries in Oman. Bijalani thanked the gathering for their continuous support of Daikin products and the trust they extend to Muscat Electronics.
