MUSCAT -- The International Hotel Management Diploma full-time programme has been running for 18 months at the National Hospitality Institute Oman (NHI) and the students are now ready to commence their six-month industry placement. InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG), Al Bustan Palace Hotel, InterContinental Hotel Muscat and Crowne Plaza Muscat have taken on these future hoteliers to develop them further on their on-the-job cross training internship programme.
The diploma, certified by the educational institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA), is currently delivered in 30 different countries and is well recognised by the international hospitality industry. These NHI diploma students have now completed their entire classroom learning which includes subjects such as Basic Hotel and Restaurant Accounting, Managing Hospitality Human Resources, Training and Development for the Hospitality Industry, Front Office Operations and Food Safety: Managing the HACCP Process amongst many others. It is now time for them to put theory into practice and join the industry in their internship with InterContinental Hotel Group here in Muscat.
"We are delighted to mark this momentous occasion where our first diploma students are about to start their internships with IHG. Bringing the International Hotel Management Diploma to Oman has proven to be a very positive development in the training of people in the hospitality industry, providing a professional qualification both in Hotel Management as a whole and through awarding individual professional certificates in specific subject areas relevant to aid in career advancement.
"During the economic downturn we strongly recommend that organisations invest wisely now to capture new customers and retain employee and customer loyalty through staff development. Moreover, this should give your organisation a head start when the economy revives -- and provide a competitive edge when you most need it. NHI has the training solutions you require", said Rob MacLean, Principal National Hospitality Institute Oman.
