EZZAHRA - "Committed as it is to keep on financing the Scout Movement, Tunisia will opt for new funding formulae to ensure the autonomy of the organisation, its leaders and members, away from any control or instrumantalisation," Interim Prime Minister Ali larayedh said on Saturday.
"The State policy in matters of public financing of associations revolves around objective criteria set beforehand as well as fairer and more transparent mechanisms," he pointed up at the opening of the 21st Congress of the Tunisian Scout Movement held in Ezzahra, southern suburbs of Tunis.
Besides, the Premier urged the organisation to upgrade its programmes and rules to back the civil society in the building of the nascent democracy.
He put emphasis on the need to internationalise the Movement's activities so as to increase Tunisia's influence at the Maghrebi, Arab and international levels.
The three-day works of the 21st Congress of the Tunisian Scout Movement started on Friday; The event is held concurrently with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Tunisia's Scout Movement.
