KUWAIT, June 9 (KUNA) -- Music is the language of peace and love and the means of interaction among the globe's diverse peoples and civilizations, says Information Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah.

Speaking to reporters upon opening the 11th international musical festival, late on Sunday, Sheikh Sabah praised the veteran national singer, Khalifa Bader (Al-Lingawi), and his role in developing Kuwaiti songs.

Meanwhile, head of the festival Mohammad Al-Sanousi said in a speech at the opening ceremony of the festival, held by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) from June 8 to 12, that the music constitutes a bridge that helps in interaction among peoples of the globe.

Bader sang two of his songs at the ceremony and young singer Firas Al-Tattan presented three of Bader's songs.

Singer Khalid Al-Masoud sang three songs and Hamad Al-Mane' presented two.

The festival's last activity will be held on Thursday at the theater of Abdulaziz Hussain Cultural Center with the participation of a Polish band.
