Muscat Muscat is the world’s second best tourism destination in 2012, according to the travel guide published by Lonely Planet.
At the top of the list of ten is London, followed by Muscat, Bengaluru in India, the Spanish city of Cadiz, Swedish capital Stockholm, Guimaraes in Portugal, Santiago in Chile, Hong Kong, Orlando in the USA and Darwin in Australia.
Oman’s Tourism Minister, Shaikh Abdul Malek Bin Abdullah Al Khalili, said that selecting Muscat as the second best tourist destination among the cities of the world undoubtedly represents an emphasis of the efforts exerted by the Sultanate, not only in the development of all utilities and services, but rather in various dimensions of the modern city, such as the environment, public health, landscaping and various aesthetic requirements that have made Muscat a unique city.
Opportunity
In a statement to the Oman News Agency (ONA), Shaikh Abdul Malek added that this appreciation coincides with the declaring of Muscat the Arab Tourism Capital 2012, which provides the Tourism Ministry with an opportunity to use this as an additional motto for this occasion.
