Muscat: Muscat will be home to an automated car parking manufacturing plant following a recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between I-Park Intelligent car parking, part of North Ocean Group, with Simmatec, a South Korean manufacturer of auto parking system.

With car parking woes plaguing the congested Muscat governorate, North Ocean Group has come with an innovative solution of providing automated car parking facility.
"Recently the group installed elevator-type parking for parking 306 cars which is not only first in Oman and but also first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa,- Thasleem Khan, director of the group, said.

"The proposed I-Park factory will be built in international standards with ISO and CE certifications for the factory and products. The work has already begun. After the successful installation of elevator auto car parking in Al Khuwair area, we are in progress of manufacturing 60 auto car parking in office buildings in Ghubra and 165 simple type puzzle parking in a basement in Al Khuwair. We have new solutions from I-Park for villas, basements and external parking areas. Parking spaces can be doubled in less time and at no cost,- R. Thasleem Khan, added.

Shabbir Boriyawala, chairman of the group, said, "We are glad to inform that we have taken the first step and will be a pioneer in the field of auto parking. We have signed up with technically qualified and highly reputed company, Simmatec of Korea, which has expertise in the field of multi-level car parking for more than 20 years all over the world.-

"We have recruited experienced engineers and managers already for our production facility and have design engineers who can help the consultants and architects designing the car parking for the buildings including the structural design free of cost,- he said.
"Automated parking is set to become the norm, given that apartments or commercial spaces lose their appeal without adequate parking,- Shabbir added.
