The Moroccan association for the fight against breast cancer is organizing on Sunday in Sidi Moumen (Casablanca) the third 'Race of Hope' for fighting this kind of cancer, reported MAP news agency.
The organizers of this event said that the race, which is initiated under the auspices of HM King Mohammed VI and with the support of the world athletics champion Hicham El Guerrouj, is "a sport anyone can do. It even will be a vehicle for a message of sensitisation, and a symbol of union and health.
Choosing Sidi Moumen for this year's race is dictated by the popular character of the neighborhood, where 'Coeur du Femme Association' intends to establish a centre for housing cancerous people, who are in difficult financial situation.
Each year, since 2002, the Moroccan association for the fight against breast cancer organizes cancer detection campaigns.
Up to now, 13 campaigns of breast cancer detection and treatment on behalf of needy people have been launched. Each time, doctors mobilize benevolently to examine and operate on people.
So far, more than 35,000 Moroccan women were treated in Safi, Laayoune, Oukacha, Taza, Meknes, Casablanca (Ain Sbaa, Hay Hassani, Sidi Moumen), Settat, Bejaad.
Coeur de femme Association, founded in 2001, aims at the sensitization of women, and the early detection of the cancer.
