UK-based Emtelle, a maker of fibre-optic network solutions, will be investing approximately $50 million to develop a new manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi.

The company has just signed a build-to-suit deal with Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD Group), a subsidiary of AD Ports Group, to proceed with the project, which is envisioned to be one of the world’s largest, according to a statement on Tuesday.

The facility, to be built on a 48,000-square-metre plot in KEZAD, will produce fibre optic ducting and pre-connectorised products. Emtelle will lease the plot for its Abu Dhabi facility under the build-to-suit agreement with KEZAD.

The company is expanding in the Middle East, as well as into North America. In 2021, it acquired and rebranded AfriPipes Middle East.

By setting up a global hub in Abu Dhabi, the company “significantly shortens the supply chains and guarantees both existing and new customers the security of supply,” according to Tony Rodgers, CEO of Emtelle Group.

“In addition, the expansion allows countries across the Middle East and Asia the ability to significantly enhance their networks at rapid speed, while meeting the unprecedented increased demand for pre-connectorised, blon fibre and ducted solutions,” Rodgers said.

“This facility will export 95% of its manufactured products globally,” added Sanjay Nischal, Managing Director (Middle East & Asia Pacific) at Emtelle Group.
